How To Wipe Out Dust Easily

Try to do this as often as possible, anyway this will just take about five minutes of your time everyday! If you need to clean your bookshelves, try to use a cloth that is made up of microfiber or a make up or clean paint brush to dust the sides and tops of the bookshelves and the book itself. If you still have time, remove the books and use the upholstery attachment of the vacuum cleaner to dust them. Those heavy, large books should be placed flat, not upright to protect the book itself. While you are going through this, check on each of the books and see if you have anything that you can donate or pass on to friends.

Reducing Noise In A Room

If you're a call center professional like me, I bet you know how much we value quietness in a room. Here's some tips on how to reduce noise in a room.

1) Insulate the floor

2) Build up mass in the walls by adding another layer of dry wall

3) Finish the ceiling, walls and floors with sound absorbent materials such as cork, rubber tile, or carpeting.

4) Cover windows with heavy drapes another form of movable insulation.

5) If the noise is coming outside like a nearby highway, consider landscaping with shrubbery or fences to create a sound buffer.

Trick or Treat

Okay the chores are done and now it's time for fun. Here are some of the tips I can impart you from the book I just recently read: The Queen of Clean by Linda Cobb. Hope this helps.

The Treat

*Make up is much safer for children than masks, which can obscure their vision.

* Remove glitter make up and heavy dark make up from kid's faces with petroleum jelly. Gently work in the jelly (use care with glitter make up not to get it into the inner area), then tissue away the make up. Wash face well when done.

* Make sure to leave plenty of room for your child's clothes under the costume and make sure the costume isn't trailing on the ground. You don't want your child to trip!

* Make sure to check your children's candy before you let them eat it. If little ones are impatient, give them a piece of the candy you bought until you've had time to check the bounty.

* Put some reflective tape on costumes for the Halloween only to discover that the color won't come out? Don't give up hope. Reach for the baking soda, liquid soap and shampoo. Make a paste the consistency of thick shampoo, work it well into your hair, concentrate on your hair, not your scalp - then rinse thoroughly. No more green!

Diamond's are Girls Best Friend

Who does’nt love to get a gift of jewelry? Who doesn’t know how to care for it?

1) Rubbing Alcohol is great for cleaning costume jewelry. Pour a little rubbing alcohol over the piece – place the jewelry in a shallow dish or small container first and gently brush with a soft toothbrush. A word of caution: many costume pieces are glued and soaking can loosen the glue. Try not to saturate. Finish with a quick rinse in cool water and wipe dry.

2) Costume jewelry that doesn’t contain glue can be cleaned with denture – cleaning tablets. Drop a few tablets in a cup of warm water and allow the jewelry to soak for 5 minutes or so. Rinse and dry well. For intricate pieces, dry with clean blower.

3) Remove dirt from intricate pieces by brushing with a soft bristle toothbrush and
some white, non gel toothpaste. Rinse by brushing with a clean toothbrush and just water and dry well.

AVOID UNDERARM STAINS OF SHIRTS

Sweat wont stain if you let your anti-perspirant dry prior to putting on your clothes. Before you wash shirts, pretreat the underarm areas with undiluted liquid laundry detergent so sweat will rinse away. Pretreat any existing stains with household vinegar to help dissolve the perspiration. To prevent more buildup, washing the hottest water that's safe for that fabric at least every third or fourth time.

FROZEN MEALS

Tired of mashing between fresh baby food day in and day out to satisfy your baby's growing appetite? Try this: Boil several veggies in a pot with some fresh beef soup bones, remove once soft, then srain and mash. Place in ice cube trays. Cover in foil and freeze. Once frozen, transfer to individual plastic bags (ice bags work just fine), label with the date then pop in the freezer. This will keep for about siz weeks without spoiling. Whenever your baby is hungry, you can just reheat the desired mashed veggie in the microwave, let cool, and serve. Each ice cube yields about two tablespoons of food. Mix different once if you want.

MUST DO MOVES FOR BEAUTIFUL BEDDING

Keep your favorite linens looking fresh and your pillow in prime condition with these tips.

*Laundering Try to wash sheets and duvet covers once a week (or at least every other) in warm water (hot fades colors). For extra softness, add a few drops of hair conditioner to the wash in the rinse cycle. Use a duvet cover on your comforter, and you only need to have it professionally cleaned once every three years.

*Preserving Pillows Instead of tossing your fancy decorative pillows on the floor before getting into bed, keep a basket or hamper in a corner of the room and place pillows there.

*Fixing Feathers Fluff up flattened-down comforters and pillows by putting them in the dryer for 10 minutes on cool air.

HANDLE WITH CARE

When buying clothes ( especially the branded ones ) – it usually does have what we call care labels. Those are labels found either on the side of a shift or at the nape part usually sewn on the seams, containing instructions on how to wash your clothes without ruining them. Here are some symbols that you might encounter:

· The number in the washtub symbol indicates the right wash temperature

· A circle inside a square means you should use the dryer

· A circle means that the item should be taken to the dry cleaners, while a triangle means that it can be bleached

· Any symbol that is crossed out simply means "don’t"

WHEN YOUR CAR IS STUCK IN THE MUD

If you're stuck in mud, don't gun the engine. You'll dig yourself deeper if you do. Put pieces of old carpet, gravel, sand or branches under the drive wheels for traction (front wheel in a front-drive car, rear wheels is a rear-drive). Then keeping the front wheels pointed straight ahead, rock the car gently by shifting quickly. Low or drive to reverse. If you're not out after rocking 12 times, stop. You don't want to deepen the grooves or damage the transmission.

JEWELRY CARE

* To prevent metal costume jewelry from tarnishing, store a piece of white chalk with it.

* To avoid tangled necklaces, hang them from adhesive-backed plastic hooks on your dresser mirror or from a tie rack on the inside of the closet door.

* Make a necklace from fishing swivels. String them together with a satin cord, knotting the cord between each swivel.

* To clean nonplastic costume jewelry, immerse it in rubbing alcohol for five minutes. Then rinse in warm water and dry with a lint-free cloth. Soak rhinestone pieces in straight liquid detergent for 15 minutes; rinse in warm water and dry with a flannel cloth. Do the same for metal jewelry, but dilute the detergent with warm water.

The Wise Use of Time

Two men cut wood all day long. One worked straight through without stopping to rest. At the end of the day, he had a sizeable pile of logs. The other would stop for 50 minutes and then take a ten-minute break. At the end of the day, he had a much larger pile. "How could you chop more? " asked the man whod worked continously. His friend replied, "when I stopped for rest, I also sharpened my ax" (Thoman B. Welch,Jr.)

Most people thought that by working really hard and depriving themselves of rest thinking if they work twice as hard on a longer period without rest...they'll gonna increase their chances of success. Little did they know that having such rest would increase the flow of their creative juices and renew their strength thus would improve their performance. We don't need to push ourselves to the limit - what good would you get if you've been working for years, earning a lot for yourself without resting...but losing your health? You'll just gonna spend your hard earned money to have your health restored. Slow down...take a break...and enjoy the beauty of the flower once in a while...

It Pays To Cook Wisely

* It will take you twice as long and twice as much if you bring water to boil in an open pot.

* If you just need to boil small amount of water - use the smallest cooking pans possible as these requires the use of less energy.

* Make sure that you let hot foods cool off for a while before putting them in the fridge. Cover all foods especially liquids to avoid releasing moisture and raising the temperature.

* The best way to keep a cake fresh for the longest possible time is to store it in an airtight container with a slice of bread. The bread should be replaced as soon as it gets hard. An apple is equally effective.

* A squeeze of lemon in the water gives rice an elegant whiteness while a spoonful of oil helps to separate the grains. Covering cooked rice with a cloth to absorb the steam while it waits to be served will stop it from clumping.

* Curry powder gives a fuller flavor in cooked dishes if fried a little beforehand.
